Clemons named Scholar Athlete of the Month

SEPTEMBER 26TH- Millbrook senior guard, Chris Clemons was named the Coastal Federal Credit Union's Scholar Athlete of the Month for October 2014 and was honored Friday afternoon in Millbrook's library.

For 13 years, Coastal Federal has presented the award in conjuction with ESPN Triangle's 99.9 The Fan, and 620 The Buzz to an athlete in triangle area who balances a high level of play on the court or field, but maintains high levels of leadership, and exemplifies excellent academic standards.

Each month during the 2014-2015 school year, one worthy winner receives on-air recognition and a commemorative plaque. Additionally, Coastal Federal Credit Union will grant a $400 scholarship to both Millbrook High School, and the university in which Chris plans to attend after high school.

Chris was second on the team in scoring in 2014 as he averaged 13.4 points per game, and was a 1st Team All Cap-8 Conference selection along with unanimously being named the Cap-8 Player of the Year by the coaches. Chris enters the 2015 season as an academic all-conference recipient and has already academically qualified to play Division I Basketball. Chris currently holds athletic scholarship offers from three Division I universities.
