Tate signs with Moncton of NBL
2010 Millbrook graduate, Tyrrel Tate has signed a contract with the Moncton Miracles of the Canadian National Basketball League.
Tate, 6-foot-5, 195 pounds, is one of Millbrook's Top 20 all-time scorers with 657 career points over the course of two varsity seasons with the Wildcats. In his time at Millbrook, Tyrrel won a Cap-7 Conference Championship, a Cap-7 Tournament Championship, and he helped guide the Wildcats to the 4A Eastern Regionals in 2010 behind his 16.9 points per contest. Those numbers earned him first team All Cap-7, All-District, and All-State.
After Millbrook, Tyrrel Tate attended Division II Fayetteville State University. In his senior year he averaged 18.7 points per game, 4.9 rebounds per game, and 1.4 assists per game. After graduating from Fayetteville, Tate was drafted by the Idaho Stampede in the 2014 NBA D-League Draft. He averaged 4.3 points per game, 3.0 rebounds per game and 1.0 assist per game for the Stampede. His best game came against the Reno Bighorns where he scored 14 points, pulled down 7 rebounds, while adding 2 assists and 1 steal.
Tate says he’s very excited to be joining the Miracles this season. “I’m happy to be able to build and do something special with the city and organization. We plan on giving the city of Moncton something to be proud of in this year’s team. Coach Langis and I have built a great relationship and playing under him seems to be right.”
“What makes Tyrrel stand out is his diversity as a perimeter player,” said Coach Serge Langis. “He can easily play and defend the 2-3 position for us. He’s also a player of high character that will love to get involved in the greater Moncton community.”
Tyrrel Tate will join the Miracles for their training camp in December.
