Tate chosen in D-League Draft

Tyrrel Tate, a graduate of the 2010 class and two time letterwinner at Millbrook was chosen in the 7th Round of the NBA's D-League Draft. The Idaho Stampede, who hold a development contract with the Utah Jazz selected Tate out of Fayetteville State University.

Tate starred for four seasons in Fayetteville as he averaged 18.7 Points, and 4.8 Rebounds during his senior campaign. Tyrrel was named an All-CIAA athlete each year of his collegiate career.

Tyrrel becomes the second Wildcat alum to play professional basketball as he joins former D-Leaguer, and current European standout Jonathan Moore (Class of 2000). The 6'5 forward played his final two years at Millbrook on the varsity roster and quickly became a go to scorer for Coach McInnes in 2009 and 2010.

The Stampede are coached by Dean Cooper, and they finished at 24-26 last season with a roster made of up several former triangle area basketball stars such as Richard Howell, CJ Leslie, and Dexter Strickland. They kick off their season at home on November 14th vs. the Erie Bayhawks, you can watch all of their games live online through the D-League's partnership with YouTube.
