Clemons' career night leads Wildcats to Opening Win

Senior Chris Clemons opened the 2014-15 season with a bang as he and his fellow Wildcats cruised to a 93-47 Opening Night victory over East Wake.

Clemons got things started early as he went for 14 points in the first five minutes of the game including going three for his first three from beyond the arc. He capped off his first half scoring with 17 points and a monstrous one handed slam. Clemons eclipsed his previous high of 23 points set last January vs. Heritage with 24 in the game and it was reached on a huge alley oop from Faison Brock.

Andrew Evans also posted a career high with 23 points, one more than his 22 point effort vs. Sanderson last Feburary. Evans provided solid play on both sides of the ball all night long and he and Clemons combined to match East Wake's offensive output for the game. Robert Brown also added 21 points for the Wildcats, moving him into 10th Place all-time in career scoring, passing Anton Gill.

The Wildcats played tonight's game under the use of the NCHSAA's new "Mercy Rule" which indicates that the game clock will stay running for the remainder of the game upon coaches agreement once the scoring margin is between 30-40 points. The Wildcats and Warriors played the final 10 minutes of the game under that rule with the game ending at a quick 51 minutes.

Millbrook will now embark on a three game non-conference road swing that sees them take on three of the area's finest. Thursday is when they will next be in action and it will be against the Northern Durham Knights, a team that the Wildcats have yet to defeat in the regular season since November of 2011.
