Chris Clemons takes home "Athlete of the Week" honor
Millbrook Senior, Chris Clemons was named the Millbrook High School PDQ Athlete of the Week for the week of November 24th, 2014. Clemons has received this honor for a second consecutive year and it comes on the heels of two career nights last week. Chris opened the season last Tuesday night with a career high 24 points vs. East Wake and then scored the 5th most points in a single game in Millbrook history with his 35 point effort vs. Northern Durham two nights later. The 5'9 point guard enters Monday's game vs. Knightdale leading all NCHSAA schools in scoring with 29.5 points per game, combine that with his 15 assists, and 7 steals last week, the Campbell commit is establishing himself as one of the top players in the state.
The PDQ Millbrook Athlete of the Week is sponsored by one of Millbrook's largest corporate sponsors, PDQ Restaurants. It began on September 2013 when in talks with PDQ they offered to exclusively honor weekly a student athlete at Millbrook, give a gift certificate for meals for the athlete and display them at their restaurant on their digital screen. Our administration also displays some highlights of the athlete on the Millbrook Web site and an announcement is made on the Morning Growl.
Before a committee of Coaches, Administrators, and Wildcat Club members, Clemons was chosen as an elite performer last week, both on the court, and in the classroom. Chris recently signed his letter of intent to play at Campbell University, becoming the 1st Men's Basketball player to sign to a Division I school straight out of Millbrook since 2004. His grade point average is over 3.0 and he looks to build off of his Junior Basketball season in which he took home Cap-8 Conference Player of the Year honors.
