Wildcats sweep the Knights on the road

The Wildcats ventured into Knightdale for a triple header against the Knights, and left with a clean sweep.

The Freshman team got things going with a 66-39 win. Despite getting off to a slow start, the Wildcats turned up the pressure in the 4th Quarter as they outscored the Knights 22-11 in the final stanza. Adrian Scarborough, and Xavier Fennell led the charge early along with Ronnell Goode. Scarborough posted 14 points followed by Fennell's 13. Goode finished with 8 which was also the number that Shawntay Mills recorded late, with the help of some drives to the basket. As the final minutes wound down, the Wildcats would get some more scoring from Daniel Harrison, who knocked down a long range shot from the corner, and Evan Houze who quickly rose up the stat sheet with 3 quick baskets in the span of 2 minutes, to finish with 6 and Gabriel Gomez who also pitched in with a late basket. The Freshman team moves to 2-0 as they travel to Bunn tomorrow for a match with their JV team.

Junior Varsity was next to take the court, and much like Varsity, they were in a foul-filled match with the Knights. Mike Hall, and Chase Fowler led Millbrook at half with 7 points a piece with CJ Waters pitching in with an early basket, Sophomore Noah Connell also recorded his three points on the evening in the first half, as Gee Kalejaiye hit him in stride on a length of the court pass, in which Connell promptly laid in and drew the foul. Freshman Jabari Brown would make sure Knightdale did not keep the game too close as down the stretch, the guard hit a big three pointer, and ended up sinking some key free throws in the final minutes to finish with a game high 11 points to lead the Wildcats to the 57-46 victory. JV will take an 8 day break before taking their 2-0 record into Apex.

Varsity capped things off with a match with the Knights, a team in which they have not beat on the road since 2006. Andrew Evans paced the Wildcats early with 10 points while most of Millbrook's players were getting themselves into foul trouble. Trejon Jacob took advantage of the extra time on the court, as he put together a career night, he started his scoring with an and-one under the basket, followed by a three from the left wing. Jacob's scoring would remain status quo until a huge one handed slam capped off his 20 point performance, that was a career high for Trejon in the state of North Carolina. Faison Brock also had a career night, especially from beyond the arc. Brock kept momentum in Millbrook's favor as he knocked down two unexpected three's in the 2nd Quarter, and followed it by rising high at the rim to throw down an alley oop from Chris Clemons. Faison picked up where he left off in the 3rd as he hit an early three pointer to effectively put the game out of reach. He spent most of the 4th Quarter on the bench, but it was still enough to finish with a career high 15 points in what ended up being a 98-65 final score as Shase Soto put up 7 late points to finish with a career high as well.

The Wildcats return to action after the Thanksgiving Break as they travel to face the defending State Champion, Apex Cougars. Apex bounced the Wildcats from the playoffs last year, one game away from the state title game. JV takes the court at 5:30 followed by Varsity at 7:00.
