Millbrook slams home huge road win
Millbrook (4-0) put last season behind them as they visited Apex High School to face the team that has knocked them out of the playoffs for the last two years.
The Wildcats came out firing early as Robert Brown and Faison Brock started the scoring for the visitors. Jordan Sterrett added 10 in the first half by battling his way to the charity stripe 10 times and knocking down 8 of his free throws. The second quarter for the Wildcats came straight out of an NBA Dunk Contest. Trejon Jacob opened the stanza with a two handed slam, Chris Clemons got a steal and slam, Faison Brock capitalized on a missed shot from Clemons with a putback dunk, and for good measure, Robert Brown picked off an errant pass on the very next play and promptly slammed it home. Millbrook took a 40-29 lead into the break.
The Cougars who are out to defend their 2014 4A State Championship would not go quietly through the night as they were paced by 12 three's, half of them coming from their Senior, Davis Dupree who finished with 18, and his fellow teammate Ian Boyd, and Jon Kitoko who posted 17 points apiece. Robert Brown helped keep the score differential in double digits in the 3rd as he scored 8 of his game high 18 points. Trejon Jacob would put the game out of reach in the 3rd Quarter as he knocked down two shots from beyond arc and added a three point play to finish with 17 points. Andrew Evans and Chris Clemons capped off the 79-60 win with two more slam dunks. Evans caught a pass while wide open in the corner for three but rather than letting the shot go, the 6'0 Guard drove to the baseline and skied high to dunk on Apex's 6'7 Jon Jones (View HERE). Clemons two minutes later sealed the deal with a steal and emphatic two handed slam. Millbrook moves to 4-0 on the season which is their best start since 2011-12.
