Wildcats shock Crusaders

One of North Carolina's finest made the trip to Raleigh for th 1st Annual Millbrook Winter Showcase brought to you by Millard Kirk. Fayetteville's Trinity Christian School squared off against Millbrook in the primetime matchup before an over capacity crowd. Trinity boasts Junior Point Guard, Dennis Smith Jr.. ESPN ranks him #1 in the nation at his position and the Wildcats gave him trouble all night long en route to a 91-52 victory.

Chris Clemons took the opening tip straight to the basket and was immediately fouled. He followed a ½ performance from the line with a long three point shot, a monstrous slam, and an assist to Andrew Evans knocked down a long three. The Wildcats led 9-0 which forced Trinity to blow one of their timeout's 60 seconds into the ballgame. Millbrook started on a 22-4 run as Faison Brock contributed with a career high 16 points.

Despite leading his team in scoring, Smith Jr. was unable to find a groove against Millbrook's pressure on defense. Jordan Sterrett who pitched in with 5 points had the assignment on controlling the 6'2 guard, and he rose to the occasion. Evans would battle through foul trouble all night but would still manage to put together a strong first half that led to a 13 point night.

Millbrook took a 48-21 lead into the break and never looked back. Chris Clemons who posted 20 points in the first half, picked up right where he left off. He continued to light it up from beyond the arc and bring the Wildcat faithful to their feet until he could make way for other contributors such as Seve Williams, Monte' Harris, and Trejon Jacob who all scored big baskets late.

Millbrook moves to 5-0 on the season, their best start in over 10 years. Trinity on the other hand falls to 5-1 after winning the NCISAA State Championship last season. The Wildcats return to action on Monday at home vs. Middle Creek, JV at 5:30, Varsity at 7:00. Millbrook Maniacs who present a Student ID at the ticket table will get free admission to the game.
