Millbrook defeats Kinston 74-54
Another NC Top 50 opponent, and another ESPN Top 10 recruit squared off against the Wildcats on Saturday. The three time 2A State Champion, Kinston Vikings came in with Brandon Ingram and in front of a capacity crowd which included multiple collegiate coaches such as NC State's Mark Gottfried, and Duke's Mike Krzyzewski, it was once again Chris Clemons who stole the show.
Millbrook opened the game on a 12-1 run fueled by 10 points from Clemons. At the 5:00 mark of the 1st Kinston called timeout and closed the quarter on a 11-9 run before outscoring the Wildcats 21-10 in the second quarter to send the game into halftime tied up at 31.
Andrew Evans who only had a slam dunk to show in the first half, came alive in the final two stanzas as he finished with 14 points. Clemons' would have one of his worst nights of the season in regards to shooting from the field but still managed to post the second best scoring performance of his career as his 37 topped his 36 which was set yesterday. Clemons has scored 30+ points for the 5th time this season.
Millbrook outscored the Vikings 21-6 in the 4th Quarter and managed to hold Ingram, a five star prospect to five points, three of which came from the free throw line.
