Wildcats top Spartans behind Jacob's 19

“I just tried to do my part and contribute on both sides of the ball” is what junior Trejon Jacob said of his performance Friday night in a 96-59 win over Sanderson. The 6'5 transfer from Texas scored 19 points off the bench as the Wildcats wrapped up the regular season with their 19th straight win vs. their rivals from down the road.

Chris Clemons and Robert Brown got the Wildcats going early on. Both seniors threw down one handed jams along with three threes from Clemons as he finished with 13 points, all coming in the first half. Brown had a similar line as all 9 of his points came in the first two stanzas. Coach Scott McInnes rested his starting five for most of the second half.

Junior John Burwell contributed with 11 points, he has scored 11 in three of his last four games but it was not the points that stood out for Burwell. He started the 4th quarter by throwing a lob to Trejon Jacob for the alley oop, and two possessions later, he and Jacob hooked up for the same exact alley oop. To finish things off, John threw up one final lob to Trejon with 6.4 seconds left in the game for the slam.
