Wildcats advance with 83-39 win

Senior Guard Andrew Evans said “we can't take any teams lightly in the playoffs” and that is what he and his fellow Wildcats did on Saturday afternoon as second seeded Millbrook knocked off the #31 seeded Green Hope Falcons by a final score of 83-39.

Despite a two week hiatus from playing due to winter weather, the Wildcats wasted no time in putting points on the board as Rob Brown won the opening tip to Chris Clemons who went up court and knocked down a long three followed by another three a few seconds later. Faison Brock would put up a putback layup at the 6:10 mark to give Millbrook a 10-1 lead that forced Green Hope to burn an early timeout.

UNC-Asheville commit, Jack Costigan would keep the game close with a pair of three pointers halfway through the first but once Coach Scott McInnes subbed in his second team, the Wildcats pulled away to a 22-9 advantage prompting another Green Hope timeout at the 2:31 mark of the first.

Andrew Evans would add a three pointer and a layup along with a Rob Brown three point play as Millbrook posted 31 points in the first stanza. Evans was just getting started as he took a deflected pass from Jordan Sterrett and Trejon Jacob to the basket for the slam. Chris Clemons would follow him moments later with a dunk that came on a pass from Faison Brock who saved a ball from heading out of bounds. Millbrook would lead 57-24 at half behind Clemons' 16 and Brown's 14 points.

The starting five for Millbrook would only last a few minutes in the second half but they made the most of their time on the court as Clemons pitched ahead to Evans for the slam followed by Brock pitching ahead to Clemons for the slam not to be outdone by Rob Brown who stole the inbound promptly slammed it home to give Millbrook a 65-24 lead.

Millbrook would extend their lead to 40 points with 5:27 left in the 3rd Quarter which activated the running clock. Monte' Harris and Trejon Jacob would add 4 points in the 4th along with Reid Herring who knocked down a three from the corner to put the Wildcats up 83-39 which ended up being the final score.
