Evans commits to Hampden-Sydney
Senior Guard, Andrew Evans has announced his committment to Division III Hampden-Sydney College in Farmville, Virginia. Evans was a two year letterwinner at Millbrook and played in at least one game on Varsity during his four years as a Wildcat.
Andrew was named 2nd Team All-Conference as a Junior after averaging 8.3 PPG. After scoring 21 points vs. Sanderson on February 21st, he earned starting duties as a shooting guard, a position that he would not relinquish for the rest of his career. As a Senior, Evans took his game to another level by averaging 14.7 PPG. He scored the 11th most points in a single season in school history, and he scored 17+ points on 14 occasions. He put together his first career double-double in the Eastern Regional Semi-Final, his 21 points and 10 rebounds led Millbrook to a 104-79 victory. Andrew received 1st Team All-Conference Honors, All-Region Honors, All-Distrtct Honors, and he was named to the HighSchoolOT.com Holiday Invitational All-Tournament team. Evans goes into the Millbrook record books as his 665 career points is 20th in program history.
When asked about why he chose the Tigers, Evans said "I feel like it's a good fit for me, I can see myself getting better there; I feel like I made the right decision". Hampden-Sydney has many Triangle and Cap-8 connections to go along with Evans as he will join Heritage's Josh Katowitz, and Sanderson's Hunter Kuehn who are rising Sophomore's for HSC. Justin Reid, a guard from Cardinal Gibbons who played alongside Evans' with both the Wake County Basketball Association AAU Program and the Capital City All-Star Team in the RDU All-Star Game will also join Andrew who says that "the relationship that the coaches and players have already built with me really makes me feel at home, and has made the decision that much easier".
Hampden-Sydney plays in the ODAC Division III Conference, the Tigers are coached by Dee Vick who led the team to a 16-11 record in 2014-15. Their season kicks off during the first week of November.
